Chocolate Avocado Truffles

A decadently delicious biteful that’s great for sharing. Bring these to a potluck, or package them for a special gift for the one(s) you love. They have very few ingredients, making them common allergen free so that they can be enjoyed by many! Hoorah! They are simple to make, and everyone can have a taste! As long as the chocolate chips you use are dairy free- these are both gluten free and vegan!

  • ¾ avocado
  • ¾ cup dark chocolate chips (I used 71% camino-- if using the 55% semi sweet you may not need maple syrup at all!)
  • ½ teaspoon maple syrup- or to taste
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Cocoa- to coat
  1. Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler (or in the microwave, checking and stirring at 20 second intervals)
  2. Mash the avocado to a puree with sea salt
  3. Mix the avocado and chocolate together until there’s no more avocado green showing and it is lump free. Sweeten with maple syrup to taste.
  4. Place mixture in fridge to set 30 minutes (just until firm! Don’t wait too long!)
  5. Once it has firmed up a bit, have a small bowl or plate with cocoa ready. Get ready to get a little messy! Form the chocolate avocado into small balls, about a teaspoon full at a time, and then roll into cocoa. You should end up with about 15 truffles
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve/gift out.

Note: If you have a food processor you can puree your avocado and blend the chocolate in super easy! I do not and found that as long as you are using a sufficiently ripened avocado a fork mash method works just fine!
